I am planning an opening of my 12,000 SF bikepark summer 2009.I am a mountain bike rider of 20+ years. I am integrating my park and a bike shop business together. I plan to rent a 12,000 SF building With a 20 foot ceiling. This will house my bike shop and my bikepark in the same 12k SF space. this is a bit of what it will consist of.
8'×12’spine, 24'x24' banked platform, 6 stair w/ rail, and various pads and ledges throughout.Lots of drops, step ups as well as step downs and jump after jump, after jump, after jump for all you dirt jumpers.Latter bridges, a volcano , skinny's, hips Also for just learning, there will be a 12'x20' foam pit with a small and large kicker . Ill use Sub flooring for all the transitions and initial ply on most all of the ramps . Top it with plywood and finish it with 1/8?-1/4? Birch.
Ill do all the work myself to bring down the cost. Lots of my fellow riders and friends will help with the build in return to ride free anytime the park is open.

I just got the insurance quote back today for a liability policy for 1 million-2 million aggregate. Liability/Medical. Under this policy Waivers are a must , I do not have to require helmets however I will have a mandatory helmet rule in effect at all times. We Will be charging $5 Mon-Thur 10am - 10pm and $8 Fri-sat 10am - 12am midnight Keeping longer hours ensures a good turnout because some people work evening jobs get off work and like to hit up a sesh or two afterwards.A yearly pass as well as monthly passes will be available for $250 a year or $32 bucks a month..Sunday will be reserved for privet party's and will cost $50 an hour for an unlimited amount of riders.Ill have $2 helmet rentals for people that do not have there own. (Bike rentals may be available in the future)

A bike shop will be on site for repairs and retail, as well as a cafeteria serving munchies and refreshing beverages.Audio system will play only the best music wile LCD TVs display music vids, biking vids and sports such as Hockey, football, boxing and UFC. Professional photographers will be available for snapping that perfect action shot.I would also like to add that my park will be Heated and Air Conditioned. This will play in my favor getting the people in there in the summers when turnout is low due to nice weather/free parks in the area.
Most funding will be by advertising and sponsorship such as RedBull, and Kona as well as many other product advertisements and some third party investors. In order to stay in business I would need an average of 20 riders a day coming through the doors. With the Sport growing faster then ever and Winnipeg's lack of an indoor bikepark, the numbers will be through the roof.I am confident that my bikepark will succeed and be profitable for many years.
